An English Flower Farm in the Heart of Hampshire

Lower Norton Flower Farm is a family‑run flower farm set in four acres of beautiful farmland, 10 miles north of the Historic City of Winchester. We grow seasonal British garden style flowers with sustainability, creativity and a deep respect for the land – creating natural, expressive arrangements shaped by the rhythm of the seasons.

ABOUT

Founded by Alison Coleman, Lower Norton Flower Farm sits alongside a long-established family farming business, bringing together traditional farming knowledge with a passion for seasonal, locally grown flowers.

We are a third-generation farming family, rooted in the Hampshire countryside, with a long held respect for the land and rhythms of the seasons.

At Lower Norton Flower Farm, flowers are grown slowly and thoughtfully, with care for our soil, our wildlife and the landscape that surrounds us.

With the support of my husband Tom, and a wonderful team behind the scenes, the farm has grown through patience, persistence and a shared belief in doing things the right way.

Lower Norton Flower Farm began with a love of flowers and an idea quietly sketched out on paper.

What started as a small flower patch has grown into a working flower farm, a creative studio space and a team devoted to growing and designing flowers of natural elegance and character.

From the very beginning, our aim has been simple: to grow seasonal flowers with integrity, beauty and a deep connection to the land on which they are grown.

Sustainability sits at the heart of everything we do - from working with the seasons and growing British flowers, to using gentle, considered methods that protect the land for generations to come.

We believe beautiful flowers should not come at the cost of the countryside, and that farming and floristry can work hand in hand with nature.

It is a philosophy that shapes everything we grow, gather and create here at Lower Norton Flower Farm.

“I went to the tour to hear the story of Alison’s creation of her British flowers business. A true inspiration of how a passion can become a business. The care and attention to growing the best for her customers is to be admired.”

Our Ethos…To…

At Lower Norton Flower Farm, everything we do is guided by a simple intention: to grow beautiful flowers in a way that cares for the land, values people and create a business our family can be proud of.

Kindness, inclusion, and generosity guide how we work - creating a welcoming environment where people feel comfortable to engage with seasonal flowers, whatever their experience or budget.

The farm continues to evolve, but the principle remains the same: thoughtful growing, considered design and a place that people feel a part of.

The values that guide us:

  • Working with nature, not against it

  • Growing flowers with character and care

  • Creating a welcoming inclusive space

  • Making seasonal flowers more accessible

  • Sharing knowledge generously

  • Building a business our family - and team - feel proud of

How We Grow

We grow English country‑garden style flowers chosen for their beauty, fragrance and suitability for cutting, using gentle, sustainable methods that protect the health of our soil and the wildlife that shares our fields.

Our approach is shaped by seasonality, patience and a belief that the most beautiful flowers are those that are grown slowly and naturally.

  • Seasonal growing without heated tunnels

  • Peat‑free compost and naturally enriched soils

  • Wildlife‑friendly planting to support bees and pollinators

  • Gentle growing methods and biological controls

  • Foam‑free, environmentally conscious floristry

Flowers with Character and quality

We grow flowers for beauty, movement and, individuality - varieties chosen not for uniformity, but for the feeling they bring to arrangements.

Each stem that leaves the farm reflects the care taken to grow, harvest and condition it well. Whether for a wedding, a farewell, a workshop or a simple bunch for home, quality and thoughtfulness sit at the centre of what we create.

Beyond the Field

Our work extends beyond the farm through collaborations with florist, seasonal courses and a growing design led wholesale, with recognition from industry organisations and local press along the way.

A Farm Shaped by people

Lower Norton Flower Farm exists because of people - family, team, collaborators and the visitors who return season after season.

There is a strong sense that the flower farm is something to be shared. From pick your own mornings to workshops in the Flower Barn, we open the space so people can experience flowers at their source, learn new skills and slow down for a while.

Making seasonal flowers more accessible

We believe locally grown flowers should be something that more people can enjoy - not something reserved for a large budget or formal occasions.

That thinking sits behind the way we offer our wedding flowers. Alongside our Bespoke Service, Flowers, Your Way is designed as a flexible option with no minimum spend, created by streamlining the administration and allowing couple to take a more hands-on approach if they wish. Different approaches. The Same Flower. The Same Care.

The result is a service that keeps the beauty and quality of seasonal flowers at its heart, while making them more accessible.

OUR FARMING ROOTS

The flower farm is just one part of the wider story

Lower Norton Flower Farm sits within our wider family farming business, Lower Norton Farms. Alongside the flower farm, the business includes arable and contract farming, as well as groundworks and engineering — with the flower fields becoming what we like to think of as the focal point of it all.

The farm has been based here since 1987, when it was purchased by Tom’s father, Allen. Today the land is farmed by Tom, with Andrew now part of the business too — representing three generations of the Coleman family working and caring for the land.

Rooted in the same landscape and family traditions, the flower farm continues this story in its own way — growing, inspiring and creating with the seasons.
