Discover the joy of mixing nature and journaling, as you immerse yourself in glorious High Summer flowers and creativity at this fun workshop, held in the stunning setting of Lower Norton Flower Farm, near Winchester. We’ll be celebrating enchanting High Summer, when summer is running out but it’s not yet autumn.
Think dahlias, chrysanthemums, asters, grasses, cosmos, sedums, zinnias, jewel colours, apples, blackberries, elderberries, crab apples, heather, harvest and golden sunshine (can’t guarantee that!) You’ll have the opportunity to pick high summer flowers from the flower field, be inspired by the September colours and of course eat cake!
We’ll begin with a gentle stroll around the inspiring cutting field at Lower Norton Farm to gather your own posy of gorgeous seasonal flowers to take home with you. Alison, founder of Lower Norton Flower Farm will explain what she grows and how to choose the best cut flowers to extend vase life. While you wander amongst the beautiful high summer flowers we’ll chat about their uses in the garden and the plant lore associated with them.

Back in the lovely flower workshop at Lower Norton Flower Farm I’ll show you simple journaling techniques for capturing the colourful floral joy of late summer. We will be looking at colours, shapes and patterns, capturing what we see with words, photos, doodles, print, paint and collaging techniques. You can use your posy of flowers to inspire your work. While we’re creating, I’ll share nature and gardening tips, seasonal folklore and examples of wild nature to help you to connect with the time of year.
This workshop is perfect for all abilities, whether you want to get started in nature journaling or continue your practice. You don’t need to be an artist or a plant expert to enjoy it.
